Do you have things at home that can be given a second life? You don’t wear a lot of clothes anymore, but they are “as new” and someone will love them for sure? You will soon be selling them on the new Zalando Pre-owned platform. It works completely differently than any other platform you know.
Instead of investing in a new thing, we exchange and give back. Buying used things and clothes (often looking like new) is not a matter of fashion, but a real necessity and a radical change in thinking. There are a number of platforms for buying and selling on our market, but it is known that habit is second nature to man, so it’s nice that the well-known Zalando opens up to new services.
Zalando Pre-owned is a project that has already started in Germany and Spain, and which will appear in Poland in October. “The interest in second-hand clothing is high and growing, especially among millennials. At the same time, customers lack an easy and reliable service that combines the seamless sale of what they have ceased to wear with an enjoyable online second-hand shopping experience. With the launch of ‘Pre Owned’ Zalando will become the first fashion platform to offer such a simple solution and comprehensively meet the needs of customers in this area, ”says Torben Hansen, Zalando VP Recommerce.
Zalando Pre-owned – how does it work?
Just like on the Zalando platform, customers benefit from free shipping thanks to Pre-Owned. The account will also show wardrobe management tools – a wish list, a list of items on display and purchased, also outside the platform, because we have one wardrobe.
If you want to sell something, you inform Zalando about it. You upload the product to your ‘wardrobe’, take photos of it and send it to Zalando for verification – Zalando, if it accepts the product, proposes the price for which it will be purchased, and you send the product to them for free.
Zalando then sells the products on the site. As a seller, you no longer wait weeks for someone to take an interest in your clothes, you sell the item to Zalando and they take care of the rest. When selling an item, you can choose if you want to receive a Zalando Gift Card with the correct value or if you prefer to support one of the two partner charities, Red Cross or WeForest.
