The echoes of Tadeusz Rydzyk’s scandalous statement in Poznań on Saturday, during the celebration of the 29th anniversary of Radio Maryja, made a disrespectful and unreflective way of referring to pedophilic scandals in the Polish Catholic Church, identifying high-profile films showing evidence of covering up these cases with manipulations and slander .
Talking about a specific case of a priest involved in pedophilia he said “The fact that the priest has sinned, he has sinned. And who has never been tempted? Let him show up now” continued Tadeusz Rydzyk, and it was these words downplaying the sexual abuse of minors by priests that caused the greatest anger, which was met with a sharp reaction by journalists. The prosecutor’s office also received a notification of violation of epidemiological regulations during the ceremony (it was submitted by Joanna Scheuring-Wielgus, Member of the Left).
He went on to say “The media is making this bigger than what it really is. Let us not give in, Catholics! They pick on some priest, they make a film, and everyone is shaking afterwards. Prove it. Prove he is guilty! ” – said Tadeusz Rydzyk from the pulpit, defending Edward Janiak, who was the main negative character of the documentary “Zabawa w chowania” by the Sekielski brothers, in which the process of covering up the pedophilia of Father Arkadiusz H. was shown.
“Temptation does not explain crime. Nothing justifies harming children. Anyone who commits a crime must be punished. Pedophilia is a hideous crime, regardless of who the perpetrator is,” said the Ombudsman for Children, Mikołaj Pawlak, who was one of the participants of the mass celebrating the station’s birthday.
This priest just goes to show the mentality of priests. What is incredible is that the priests listening to the speech clapped in appreciation of what he was saying. Its a disgrace and I for one have stopped going to church a long time ago.
