With temperatures looking to hit 29 degrees in Poznań tomorrow, Streetwise recommends you drop everything and visit one of the beaches below. Grab your trunks and bikinis and make the most of this great weather we are having.
Lake Rusałka, Poznań
One of the more popular bathing areas in Poznań due to the fact that it lies within the city borders and boasts a playground, volleyball courts, a beach bar serving drinks, ice cream, waffles and snacks, a large public barbecue area, watersports rental, a stage for concerts and events and last but not least the Rusałka restaurant located in the old boathouse.
The easiest way to get there is by cab (about 25PLN), or catch bus 60 from ‘Małe Garbary,’ getting off at ‘Golęcin;’ it’s a 10min walk through the woods from there. We recommend getting there before noon. This place gets busy.
Lusowo, 22km from Poznań
The beach in Lusowo is one of the best-prepared beaches in the whole of Wielkopolska. On the beach – apart from a large stone beach on Lake Lusowo – there is a complex of equipment rental, a new pier, playground, barbecue area, benches and a fast food bar (two other restaurants – Stara Wozownia and Val di Sole and a pizzeria are available in the village, a few minutes walk from the beach). Directly from the beach in Lusowo, you can go on a bike trip around Lake Lusowo, where a picturesque and well-marked trail leads. In season, the beach in Lusowo is guarded. There is a large car park directly on the beach. The only downside to this place is quite a large concentration of people during holiday weekends. DIRECTIONS
Baranowo, 11 km from Poznań
The sandy beach at the Hotel and Restaurant Kaskada in Baranowo on the Kiekrz Lake distinguishes itself from others for three reasons. First of all, a year-round, high-class restaurant operates by the beach. A good meal is made easier by time spent on the water, and additionally – periodically organized music events. Secondly, at the Kiekrz Lake, you can use the water port and water equipment rental. Kiekrz Lake is one of the most popular water reservoirs of the region among sailors. Finally, thirdly – the specific microclimate of the beach in Baranowo allows you to rest well. The beach is crowded mainly on weekends. On weekdays, residents can relax here in silence. DIRECTIONS
Chyby, 20 km from Poznań
The beach just outside of Poznan, and more precisely – on the Kiekrz Lake in Chyby is a good choice for those who like intimate and not very crowded places. In summer, mainly residents of neighboring single-family houses use the beach, hence no annoying crowd and noise. What makes this beach stand out – thanks to the high trees – the new beach in Chyby is shaded to a large extent. Recently, the Tarnowo Podgórne municipality realized a new project on the beach – the construction of a magnificent pier on the beach which was officially opened on May 20, 2016. DIRECTIONS
Lusówko, 22km from Poznań
An intimate, sandy beach on the Lusowskie Lake invites you to a swim. There is a bridge, benches, nice views and – most importantly – a friendly beach – admittedly small and lacking catering facilities, but without crowds and with clean water. There is not a big parking lot at the beach, but the locals come here mainly by bicycles or walk. DIRECTIONS
Owińska, 16km from Poznań
The Tropicana reservoir in Owińska is an artificial reservoir Attractions here are in abundance. One of them is water skiing and a wakeboard lift. The “decor” of the beach in Owińska is also unusual – palm trees, cane umbrellas and … giraffes. The reservoir has numerous facilities such as a guarded, sandy beach, water equipment rental, playground, changing rooms, showers and a volleyball court. You can also use the fast food bar. Minus is that admission to the beach is paid but 10-15PLN won’t exactly break the bank! DIRECTIONS
