In addition to well-known bars in the city in quite obvious locations, we also find other, somewhat hidden, underground bars and pubs, to which only a few of you have ever visited. The dynamic pub scene in Poznań is developing rapidly, and there are plenty of out-of-the-way pubs away from the mainstream to try out. Here are some of our favourites in no particular order.
Klub Dragon [FACEBOOK]
A place which combines the atmosphere and functionalities of a true English pub and a Latin club with an ambitious cultural agenda – all near the very heart of Poznan’s Old Market Square.
Klub Dragon is a very versatile space, open from the early morning till the last customer. During the day music as varied as jazz, Cuban or tangos can be heard here; as the evening comes near, the atmosphere heats up. In the evening all club spaces are in use. “Dragon” offers a concert stage, a dance floor, a projection hall, outside courtyards as well as a small cultural center, which serves as a haven for performers, theater troupes and musicians.
And you will always find your way back to the bar because there’s a giant dragon head coming out of the wall above it.
Over 200 types of beers from around the world, plus 12 beers on tap are a guarantee of an unforgettable experience for any beer fan.
Ślepe Ryby [FACEBOOK]
In addition to well-known bars in the city in quite obvious locations, we also find other, somewhat hidden, underground bars and pubs, to which only a few of you have ever visited. The dynamic Ślepe Ryby offers, away from the mainstream, delicious drinks and excellent service. They also focus on creating ambitious cocktails with the bar team coming up with something new nearly every weekend! Things really start to hot up on weekends after 21:00 where the vibe goes into overdrive and Poznan young cool beer lovers let rip. The atmosphere here is what really sets them apart. You can also expect to find them still open after all other places have closed. Highly recommended
PRL Pub [FACEBOOK]
There are two communist theme bars in Poznań, and this place has the lower profile, the non-existent marketing budget and a tiny entrance that’s easy to miss. But it’s certainly not second best, and if anything its underground chambers make it all the more convincing in its role as a hidden piece of history.
You can also try their other pub next door PRL PIJALNIA which focuses more on shots. Very ‘Polish’ and a welcome alternative to some of the Rynek’s more expensive and snobby bars. And Yes. They really sell shots for 2zł but only on Mondays.
Domówka [FACEBOOK]
Away from the mainstream, delicious drinks and excellent service. Domówka is an underground cave located in Śzkolna street, a stone’s throw from the Old Market Square. A diamond in the rough for sure. You have probably walked past it a hundred times and never seen it as it has a tiny entrance that’s easy to miss. Once inside you will be surprised not only by the look of the place but by the vibe it generates when packed. On weekends this place gets really packed full of young beer lovers and for those that love beautiful girls, you won’t be disappointed.
