The earnings in the enterprise sector have been increasing by more than 4 percent per year – most of us, however, have no chance to feel this increase. Although the PiS government likes to boast about Poles’ ever-higher salaries, a large part of these increases is devoured by inflation.
On Thursday, the Central Statistical Office announced that the average wage in the enterprise sector increased by as much as 4 percent. year on year and amounted to PLN 5337 gross in August. Thus, it was PLN 212 higher than a year ago – but the real increase was much lower. Such calculations do not take inflation into account.
As the money.pl website notes, among the EU countries, the greater price increase is currently only in Hungary. According to Eurostat, this indicator was as high as 3.7 percent in August. The Central Statistical Office calculates inflation differently: according to our office, prices of goods and services increased by 2.9%. Regardless of which of these calculations is closer to the truth, neither of them is taken into account when reporting rising earnings. It is worth remembering that the next time a PiS politician boasts of how Poles can afford more and more thanks to his party.
