The largest mobile networks in Poland recently announced the introduction of lower rates for international calls and SMS messages to European Union countries.

The European Commission has introduced a common maximum charge level for the entire European Union for international voice calls, arguing that the price differences between individual Member States were too large.

On average, the price of an intra-EU connection was three times higher than the standard price of a national call and according to the EC, in extreme cases, the differences were even tenfold. The new maximum rates have come into force in all 28 EU countries, therefore, changes in price lists were announced by four major mobile operators operating in Poland

New rates

Orange Polska, T-Mobile Polska, Play and Plus have announced that individual customers calling to landline and mobile numbers in the European Union countries, as well as the European Economic Area, will pay no more than 1PLN (VAT included) ) per minute of conversation, SMS to EU and EEA countries will cost almost half as much as before, ie 0.31 PLN(VAT included). “

The new rates apply to calls made from mobile phones (subscription and pre-paid) as well as fixed calls. So far, customers of the main cellular networks in Poland paid between 1.5 zlotys and even 2.5 zlotys gross per minute for a minute of connection to another country in the EU.

We are all used to the EU announcing ridiculous new regulations and many of us can’t criticize them enough but credit where credit is due. This is a good one ?
