Coming soon in Warsaw there will be recyclers, in other words, machines intended for returning used packaging. You will be able to throw plastic and glass bottles into them as well as aluminum cans.

Recyclomats will be integrated with a special application so that rubbish will be exchanged for ECO-points.

ECO-points can then be exchanged for discounts on public transport, cinema tickets, coffee shops or shopping. The first 5 external recyclers will appear in Warsaw before the holidays and the next 5 in autumn.

Recycling machines that will appear in the capital are a joint initiative of Coca-Cola, the Capital City of Warsaw and the Our Earth Foundation.

– This is the first initiative of this type implemented on such a large scale. It connects well with our educational campaign, in which we remind Warsaw residents about the principles of recycling. Ultimately, recyclers will be in locations that are popular, including at ul. Ząbkowska and pl. Bankowym  – says Michał Olszewski, deputy president of the Capital City of Warsaw. The machines were manufactured by the Polish company EcoTech System.

Coca-Cola also recently announced the launch of the global #NEVERSETTLE social campaign. Poland is the first country where the campaign will be launched. The slogan in Poland is #WCIĄŻZMIENIAMY.  Coca-Cola wants to show pro-environmental solutions and how it intends to counteract packaging waste or over-exploitation of water resources.

It will be an interesting experiment to see if people use the machines. If the discounts are big enough then they probably will. It also depends on how many machines will eventually occupy Warsaw. 10 machines is no way enough to make this work so that it makes a difference but its a good start. We look forward to seeing how this develops ?
