Polish mobile operator T-Mobile Polska launched the first fully functioning 5G network in the country and Eastern Europe. There are only a few base stations for now that cover the center of Warsaw, but gradually the zone will expand. We can expect to see 5G spread to other Polish cities throughout 2019 and to really take off in 2020!
5G networks are the next generation of mobile internet connectivity, offering faster speeds and more reliable connections on smartphones and other devices than ever before.
Combining cutting-edge network technology and the very latest research, 5G should offer connections that are multitudes faster than current connections, with average download speeds expected to be from a different universe. That means no more frustrating moments waiting for things to download!
It has been reported that phones fitted with the X50 modem (which is needed to access 5G) will be capable of download speeds up to 5Gbps, 400 times faster than the current average 4G download speeds. Although, it has been said that 5G will eventually be churning out speeds of up to 20Gbps! 18 device manufacturers have already announced that they will be releasing models featuring the X50 modem in 2019 so if you are thinking of buying a new phone we recommend you wait.
