A unique and innovative crowdfunding project called Little Stunning Dream has kicked off on kickstarter.com. Located on Tofo beach, Mozambique, with views of the Indian Ocean this boutique lodge will be a paragon of impeccable modern design. The idea is based on Timeshare – an ultimate flexi-holiday opportunity for hip and modern travelers enamored by the idea of a limited commitment property in an off-the-beaten-track paradise destination.
The founders are two friends from Poland, Mikolaj, an economics graduate has lived in Africa since 2012 working for the Embassy in Kenya, the United Nations in Somalia and a number of NGOs in Malawi and South Sudan to name a few.
And Max, an entrepreneur with many years spent in private sector advertising and start-ups in Europe, he is also a chef and cocktail master.
Were you both born in Poland or abroad?
Yes, we were both born in Poland. We grew up together in the small town of Milanówek, just outside of Warsaw.
Where exactly is Tofo Beach?
It’s in a coastal town about halfway down the Mozambican coast, is one of Mozambique’s most renowned tourist destinations. Tourists from around the world flock to its beaches to make the most of its laid-back vibe, vibrant nightlife, white sands, and turquoise waters. Nearby Bazaruto, is even a world-famous diving-paradise.
Is Africa not a dangerous place?
Africa does get dangerous but Mozambique is one of the
safest countries on this continent we’ve been to.
When did you buy the land?
Right now we have placed a deposit on the piece of land that we are planning to buy.
How Does the timeshare work?
The timeshare concept aims to be co-funded through the Kickstarter platform. Depending on your commitment you will be able to enjoy a Little Stunning Dream’s bungalow from 3 days to 10 weeks every year. We need to raise €100,000 in addition to the €50,000 we have invested and if this target is met, the lodge gets built and all the contributors receive their respective timeshare deals. If the target is not met no one is charged and the project does not receive a single Euro.
Do you plan to employ locals?
Definitely, we are planning to hire 10-14 local people in our lodge. We are also planning to open an English school for local kids.
Your favorite African food and can we expect it at your resort?
Mozambique’s crystal clear waters offer all sorts of amazing features so we are planning on serving lots of seafood dishes but with-a European twist.
Is the water as clear as it looks in the photos?
It is even better than in the photos! When we went to Mozambique to find a land we were stunned with water clarity. Its coast waters offer you one of the best diving spots on the planet.
We heard that Africa is a great investment right now.
Absolutely! According to World Travel and Tourism Council (2018), Mozambique’s tourism sector will grow by 7.3% in 2018 making it one of the top 20 countries worldwide and is predicted to reach the top 10 by 2030. It’s growth and potential are both astounding.
When Is It Happening?
The Kickstarter platform launched on Thursday 8.11.2018 at 10.00PM (CET) and it will remain active for 60 days. Any extra money collected by the project will go into developing an English school in Tofo Beach to better prepare the Portuguese-speaking Mozambican youth for the growing tourism industry in the country. As soon as the project receives full financing, the works on the lodge and school will begin!
When do you hope to realize the project? Is their a deadline to collect the money?
Kickstarter project ends on 7th of January.
What happens if you don’t get the funding? Forget about it or keep trying to realize the dream?
This is our dream project. We were getting ready for it for the last 20 months so we will definitely fight for it until the dream comes true! Kickstarter is just one of quite of few ways to gather needed money. If we will not get funding through it we will start talking to investors.
